GOD’S INESCAPABLE CARE
Once again I have been struck by the Father’s goodness and care, sometimes (and maybe often) expressed in times of pain and difficulty. God is good. Going through a rough time proves that again and again if we let Him lead us and take our hand.
Psalm 139 is an account of how King David found this to be true and how he came to see that there was nowhere he could run to and be hidden from God. Wherever he went, whatever he felt like, God would come and find him and once again show His care and compassion. David records a completely faithful and loving God whatever the circumstances.
This year, as a family, we have faced many challenges, in some ways it has been the hardest period of time we have gone through. A few months ago we wondered if anything else could happen (and it did)! But through it all, we have seen again and again that our Father is faithful and that He is good. We have also walked through tough times and situations with the group of people we meet with regularly and time after time we find ourselves saying “God is good”.
Recently when speaking at a conference I was reminded of the well known verses in Lamentations 3:21-26:
This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the LORD.
There are new mercies every day. His compassion does not fail. We can have hope. As I was speaking, I was prompted to encourage the people to consider where they were looking. Even in the hard times there is a PROMISE of new mercies every day. But which way are we looking? Do we look at the situation we face daily or do we turn to gaze upon Him and His beauty? Psalm 103:17 reminds us that the Lord’s love is from everlasting to everlasting – He does not let us out of His hand.
FATHER LOVES YOU
This is a new website: www.fatherlovesyou.org which is written as a blog and has practical stories and testimonies of how the Father loves us. It shows real people’s journeys and the way they have found His care and love even in difficult times. My hope is that as people read this blog they will see the love of the Father in very practical ways and that this will help them on their journey. Hopefully, it will have frequent updates and additions. Please have a look for yourself and recommend it to your friends and colleagues.
